Pros & Cons – Member’s Mark 36” Pellet Smoker with Smoke Tray & Induction Burner

Hi, I’m Chris. About Me

This pellet grill/smoker came out of left field for me, and I wasn’t even aware of it until I came across it on Reddit one day. Anyway, when it comes to value, there is currently little else on the market that can touch this pellet smoker for value. Right, let’s get into its Pros & Cons.

This Member’s Mark pellet smoker features a Smoke Tray similar to the Smoke Box found on the Camp Chef Woodwind Pro. Giving the user the ability to add extra smoke flavor to their food.

The Smoke Tray on the Member's Mark 36" pellet smoker means its possible to add even more smoke flavor to the food.
The Smoke Tray/Box is a feature that was only previously found on much more expensive pellet grills/smokers

The pellet fire is providing most of the heat, temperature regulation, and some smoke, whereas the Smoke Tray can be used to boost smoke flavor as and when desired.

The maximum temperature setting of the Member’s Mark 36″ pellet smoker is 500 degrees with no direct-flame access. Therefore, grilling/searing performance will be limited.

No direct flame access is provided, therefore the grilling capabilities of this pellet grill will not be the best on the market.
Without direct-flame access, the maximum temperature at the grate will be 500 degrees

Direct-flame access, while a benefit for grilling burgers and steaks, it does also present a higher risk of a grease fire. Furthermore, this pellet grill does offer an alternative solution.

The only other pellet grill to date to offer an induction hob is the second-generation Traeger Timberline, and that pellet BBQ literally costs thousands of dollars more than this Member’s Mark model.

The Induction Hob on this Member's Mark pellet smoker, especially for its low price point, is an excellent feature to have.
The Induction hob is a great feature, especially for the very low price point of this Member’s Mark pellet smoker

Using a ferrous metal pan, such as a cast-iron skillet, it will be possible to sear off steaks and burgers etc after they have been smoked. An excellent feature, especially at this low price point.

Due to the low price point of this pellet smoker of under $500 (check our database), I know from reading the Reddit community many people are interested and have purchased this model.

However, as of writing this article, we don’t really have any real-world feedback on how accurately the controller regulates temperature, the build quality/paint finish, etc.

At this moment, we don't have any feedback from real owners on this pellet grill/smoker.
At this point, we don’t have feedback from real-owners on their experiences with this pellet grill/smoker

For its features and price point, this Member’s Mark 36″ pellet smoker, at first impressions, looks a bit too good to be true. Soon though, we should start to know how it actually preforms.

It’s hard to believe that Member’s Mark is offering a pellet smoker with these features at this price point, but the hits keep coming, with an insulated cooking chamber and lid seals.

An insulated cooking chamber and lid seals are excellent features.
There are many much more expensive pellet grills/smokers that do not offer an insulated cooking chamber

The insulated cooking chamber offers more consistently cooked BBQ, quicker warm-up times, and reduced pellet consumption. Hence, its another great feature of this pellet smoker.

The controller on the Member’s Mark 36″ pellet smoker does not come with WiFi connectivity and App support. Then again, with a pellet grill/smoker at this point, it shouldn’t really be expected.

You don't get WiFi connectivity and App support with this pellet grill/smoker.
WiFi/App functionality would have been nice, but I don’t think it should be a deal breaker

WiFi/App functionality can be useful for monitoring meat over a long smoking session. However, it is possible to get WiFi probes (such as a MEATER) that can do that job. You just won’t be able to adjust the temperature of the pellet smoker remotely.

My Final Thoughts On The Member’s Mark 36” Pellet Smoker with Smoke Tray & Induction Burner

Well, this is a pellet smoker that really came out of nowhere. There is very little marketing/fanfare despite the fact for under $500, it appears to be one of the best-value pellet grills/smokers on the market.

As of yet, we don’t have customers’ feedback on how reliable the controller is, what the build quality is like, etc, but at face value, for its features/price point, it seems like an amazing deal.

But don’t take my word for it. Use the link below to browse our database and see how other pellet grills/smokers compare at this price point.
