Yes, Pit Boss offers several portable pellet grills starting with their Tabletop 150. There are also three larger portable pellet grills with folding legs, namely the Portable, Sportsman Portable and R-Series. Yes, Pit Boss currently produces the largest range of vertical pellet smokers on the market. As yet, Pit Boss has not yet produced any built-in pellet grills/smokers for outdoor kitchens. Does Pit Boss Produce Pellet/Gas Combo Pellet Grills?
Yes, Pit Boss currently produced the widest range of pellet/gas combo pellet grills on the market. The Pit Boss combo range features several Pro Series, Charleston and Navigator models with very similar specifications, along with the Sportsman and PB1230. The best Pit Boss pellet/gas combo pellet grill is the KC Combo under the Platinum Series. The reason being the KC Combo features a PID/WiFi control panel which is not currently found on the other pellet/gas combo grills.
Does Pit Boss Produce Stainless Steel Pellet Grills/Smokers?
While Pit Boss does use stainless steel for some components such as the handles and side shelves on some of their pellet grills, they are yet to produce a pellet grill that more extensively uses stainless steel. As stainless steel is an expensive material using it would push up the price of the Pit Boss pellet grills out of their value/budget segment. That’s not to say Pit Boss would never produce a stainless steel pellet grill, but its not currently very likely.
Does Pit Boss Produce Twin-Wall Insulated Pellet Grills/Smokers?
To my knowledge Pit Boss are not currently using twin-wall insulated construction in any of their horizontal pellet grills. Therefore, it means that without an insulated blanket Pit Boss pellet grills are mainly suited to warm weather use. However, the Pit Boss vertical pellet smokers do feature twin-wall construction with insulation.
Do Pit Boss Grills Come With WiFi/App Support?
The majority of the Pit Boss pellet grill/vertical pellet smoker range does not feature WiFi/App support. The first models to feature App support (SmokeIT) were the KC Combo and Lockhart as part of the Platinum Series. However, the first generation of these models only featured Bluetooth and not WiFi connectivity, meaning they were only suitable for short-range communication with the Pit Boss SmokeIT app.
However, the Platinum Series models have been since upgraded with WiFi functionality. Furthermore, the Pit Boss Gen2 Pro Series has now been released which also features full WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity. Its likely Pit Boss is going to be releasing more WiFi-enabled models soon.

Do Pit Boss Grills Offer Direct-Flame Access?
Yes, the majority of the range of Pit Boss pellet grills comes with direct flame access to raise grate temperatures over the maximum of 500 degrees which can be set on the control pane. Now, Pit Boss states 1,000 degrees is achievable, however, that’s overly optimistic and temperatures around 650-700 degrees at the grate should be expected. Those temperatures are still hot enough to get an excellent sear on your meat, fish and vegetables.
It appears all models currently on the Pit Boss website come with direct flame access. However, as I discuss in my article on budget Pit Boss grills previously some of the entry-level grills did not come with the feature. If you are not sure if a Pit Boss pellet grills come with direct-flame access look for the sliding grease tray with gaps to let the flames through.
Do Pit Boss Grills Offer Easy Ash Clean Out?
To clean the ash out of the majority of the Pit Boss range requires the removal of the cooking grates, grease tray and heat deflector to get into the base of the pellet grill with a shop vac. Pit Boss Features FAQ
Porcelain Coated Cast-Iron Grates
Pit Boss are well known for their above-average grilling/searing performance in the pellet grill world due to their inclusion of direct flame access on most of their pellet grills. However, the other reason Pit Boss pellet grills provide above-average grilling/searing performance is due to their use of porcelain-coated cast-iron grates. Cast-iron grates hold onto their heat much better than thin wire racks and can provide good sear marks.
The majority of the Pit Boss pellet grill/smoker range come with porcelain-coated cast-iron cooking grates, even some of the portable pellet grills. However, the Tabletop 150 does not come with cast-iron grates to keep the weight down. Furthermore, some of the older generation budget Pit Boss pellet grills came with wire racks.
