Hi, I’m Chris. About Me

When it comes to pellet grills and smokers that feature stainless steel construction, currently, the first brand on many people’s lips will be recteq (formally rectec). There is a new range of recteq products of which the Flagship 1100 is likely going to be one of the most popular models. Right, let’s review the Pros & Cons of this pellet grill/smoker.

One of the first and biggest Pro’s for the recteq Flagship 1100 is the extensive use of stainless steel in the construction of this pellet grill/smoker.

The entire cooking chamber and the grates within the recteq Flagship 1100 are made from stainless steel.
Stainless steel is used for the entire cooking chamber, and the cooking surfaces

While there are parts of the recteq Flagship 1100 that are not made from stainless steel, the most important parts, when it comes down to it, are.

Stainless steel means no rust, and therefore it also means when it comes to cleaning the grill, you do not have to worry about scratching paint off a surface that will eventually lead to rust.

I do believe the recteq Flagship 1100 to be a quality product worthy of its price point. However, when it comes to general affordability, the recteq is not an affordable grill for many people.

With a price point just under one thousand three hundred dollars, the recteq Flagship 1100 is not an affordable option for many people.
With a typical price point of just under $1,300, there are many people where that’s just not an affordable purchase

Now, recteq do like a sale. Therefore, the typical price point shown in our database may not be the actual price you pay. However, in general, this pellet grill/smoker will be out of reach for many people.

The recteq Flagship 1100 is actually quite unusual when it comes to grilling/searing as its able to get up to a temperature of 700 degrees without the functionality of direct-flame access.

The grilling/searing performance of the recteq Flagship 1100 will be excellent with a temp setting of 700 degrees.
With a maximum temperature setting of 700 degrees, the Flagship 1100 can reach temps some other pellet grills can only dream of

The fact that the Flagship 1100 can offer such high grate temperates without direct-flame access is a big Pro, as it means it doesn’t suffer from the increased risk of a grease fire with the feature.

I’ve said it many times, I don’t like small caster wheels on heavy pellet grills/smokers. I think they are just a problem waiting to happen when it comes to moving a grill across a wet lawn.

The recteq Flagship 1100 has particularly small caster wheels, which is not a good feature.
The caster wheels on the Flagship 1100 appear particularly small

If you leave your grill in place when not in use or you only wheel it across flat, smooth, hard surfaces these wheels will not be problem to you. For anyone else though…

Recteq has been fitting PID control boards to their pellet grills/smokers for longer than pretty much most brands on the market. As such, they have some of the best experience with this technology.

The PID/WiFi control board fitted to the recteq Flagship 1100 is a solid controller.
Recteq offers some of the best/most reliable PID/WiFi controllers on the market currently

With a controller being essential to the functional operation of a pellet grill/smoker, the tech they use and how reliably and accurately they can manage the temperature is obviously important.

Recteq fits some of the best PID/WiFi controllers on the market, as customers on Reddit etc rarely describe issues with wide temperature swings etc.

A missing feature of the recteq Flagship 1100 that I do find a bit odd is that it does not have a pellet dump shoot to change pellet flavors or empty the hopper when not in use.

The fact that the recteq Flagship 1100 is missing a pellet dump chute is a bt odd.
While the Flagship 1100 gets a nice larger 40lb pellet hopper, it has no pellet dump chute?

When you’re not using a pellet grill over a period of several weeks, you shouldn’t leave pellets in the hopper to absorb humidity from the air, its just going to reduce the quality of the pellets.

My Final Thoughts On The recteq Flagship 1100

While the Flagship 1100 is going to be an expensive, potentially unaffordable option for many people, that does not mean it doesn’t offer good value for money.

The cooking area is reasonable. The stainless steel is a big plus point, and so is the large 40lb pellet hopper, and the fact it can grill and sear at temperatures up to 700 degrees.

The recteq Flagship 1100 is a good option for its price point, but don’t take my word for it. Tap/click below to review our database and compare the Flagship 1100 against its immediate competition.
